Features
The T39 soldering tips are characterized by their high-quality workmanship and durability. They are specifically developed for the Hakko FX-971 and FX-972 soldering stations and provide you with optimal heat transfer and precise temperature control.
Tip Selection for Different Applications
T39-B02 Conical Tip
The T39-B02 with conical shape and 0.2 mm radius is ideal for particularly precise soldering work on very small components and tight solder joints. The very fine, pointed shape enables precise work even on finest SMD components and microelectronics.
T39-D16 Chisel Tip
The T39-D16 chisel tip with 1.6 mm chisel width is the ideal choice for standard soldering work. The chisel shape provides good heat transfer and is suitable for most everyday soldering tasks. With this tip, you achieve reliable results on medium-sized solder joints.
T39-D24 Chisel Tip
The T39-D24 chisel tip with 2.4 mm chisel width is designed for larger solder joints and large components. The wider chisel surface enables efficient heat transfer and is particularly suitable for soldering work that requires more heat.
Compatibility
The T39 soldering tips are compatible with the following soldering stations:
Additionally, you can use them with the following soldering irons:
- FX-9701
- FX-9702
Compatibility with Pinecil v2
The Hakko T39 soldering tips can also be used with the Pinecil v2 soldering iron with a small modification. All you need is a piece of heat shrink tubing. The modification ensures that the tip is not inserted too deep into the Pinecil, as Hakko tips, unlike the original Pinecil tips, do not have a fixed stop.
Why Hakko tips for Pinecil? Pinecil tips are already very good, especially for the price. However, in extreme situations and when soldering a lot, such as during a soldering workshop, it is worth switching to the higher quality Hakko tips:
- Better alloy
- Longer durability
- Less "fouling"
- Much larger tip selection (currently there are 67 different tip shapes from Hakko)
You can find a detailed modification guide in our wiki article on Hakko tip modification for Pinecil v2.

Care and Maintenance
For optimal lifespan and performance, you should regularly clean your T39 soldering tips. Use a damp sponge or a brass wire cleaner to remove residues. Make sure not to overheat the tips and let them cool down after use before changing them. Before switching off the station, apply some solder to the soldering tips. This reduces oxidation and increases the life of your tips.
Choosing the right tip is crucial for optimal soldering quality. Select the tip according to your specific application: conical tips for precise work, smaller chisel tips for standard applications, and larger chisel tips for large components.
